The Simpsons 5.45pm BBC1
Bart, the all-American white-trash boy, turns supersleuth when his hero Krusty the Clown is arrested for an armed robbery in a convenience store. What makes matters worse is that it is his own father, Homer, who positively identifies the clown as the thief. Bart, with Lisa's help, sets out to prove that his idol could not have committed the felony. Lisa deduces Krusty's innocence and Bart announces on live television that the real villain is Sideshow Bob (voiced by Frasier's Kelsey Grammer). Neat sideswipes about the argument raging on both sides of the Atlantic over the content of children's telly are the meat in this classy, unclassifiable entertainment.
