Trevor Nelson celebrates the 35th anniversary of Soul Train, the hugely successful
American black music TV show that debuted in 1970 on a Chicago station before going nationwide in syndication the following year. Created by Don Cornelius during the "black power" era, Soul Train showcased the latest black sounds, fashion and dance, with occasional appearances by white acts such as David Bowie , Elton John , a-ha and Christina Aguilera.
