Farming: Co-operatives at the Crossroads: 1: Staying in Business

on BBC One London

Introduced by Henry Fell

Farm Co-ops are big business in the industry today. But last year confidence was shaken when a £5-million group went into liquidation. Smaller groups faced with financial problems have had to consider merging with larger concerns. However, an increase in trading potential doesn't always solve their difficulties, and may even create more.
David Richardson examines a recent merger, and the kind of problems that were experienced.
