Bunking Off
Every day this term more than 200,000 pupils will play truant from Britain's schools. In London alone a quarter of all 15-year-olds will be missing from class.
Is truancy a vote of no confidence in the quality of education which demands a response from the Government?
Panorama has commissioned its own nationwide survey of truants and their motives.
Stephen Bradshaw reports on allegations that the facts about truancy have been suppressed and accompanies the police as they round up truants from the streets.
