Songs from the South of Spain
Flamenco's origins lie in the forges of Triana and on the salt flats of Cadiz bay. Its songs, known as the cante, are considered the most profound and authentic expression of the gypsy spirit. There is no language, as they say in Spain, as deeply communicative as the cantejondo. The flamenco guitarist Marcos introduces voices from across the century, including the young El Potito , the great Camaron, and some popular sevillanas and the songs of Lorca.
