This Russian fairy-tale ballet was commissioned by Serge Diaghilev for the second visit of his Ballet Russes to Paris in 1910. The production was an instant success and the score has become one of Stravinsky's most popular. This television version, directed by MARGARET DALE , is based on the Royal Ballet's production that was revived to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Diaghilev's death in 1954. and ARTISTS OF
