Salvatore Accardo
Celebrated Italian violinist Salvatore
Accardo was given his first violin at the age of three. Within two years, he was astounding his teacher at the Naples Conservatoire. He made his professional debut at the age of 13 and had already won international competitions at Vercelli and Geneva when at 17 he was awarded the prestigious Paganini International Violin Prize. Joan Bakewell talks to
Accardo about those formative years. With music by Paganini, Kreisler and Sarasate.
