THE BELFAST WIRELESS
ORCHESTRA
Conducted by PETER MONTGOMERY IRISH LISTENERS need no introduction to the wealth of Irish folk-music which is their inheritance, but English listeners may not be so aware of this richness. They recognise the beauty of the Londonderry Air, and the gaiety of ' Father O'Flynn,' but the general knowledge goes only a little way beyond that. Sir Charles Stanford, the great champion of his great native melodies, never ceased in his endeavour to further their appreciation beyond the shores of Ireland, and Irish music owes a great deal to him.
