The fame of George Mitchell 's Minstrels is world-wide. They have broken all records and won numerous prizes for their work on television, radio, and on gramophone records, and they continue to break box-office records in theatres as far apart as Scarborough, Yorkshire, and Sydney, Australia George Mitchell and his choir have come a long way since 1949, when Charles Chilton first asked them to take part in a radio series. Listeners with long memories may recall it - it was entitled Cabin in the Cotton, and was based on the Uncle Remus stories. It featured Edric Connor and a twelve-year-old girl from South London whose name was Petula Clark
