A Captive Lion

on BBC Radio 3

A biography of Marina Tsvetayeva by ELAINE FEINSTEIN
Brought up in an artistic, intellectual family, nothing in her background equipped Marina Tsvetayeva for the hardship of the First World War, the Russian Revolution and years in exile. But as her circumstances declined and her family deserted her, Marina continued to write some of the greatest poetry of the period - until her strength gave out.
