Lord Soper - public speaker, parson, peer
What lies behind his public image?
A film about the variety of his work both as an open-air speaker and as the Superintendent of the West London Mission - "a place where people try to practise what is preached - a workshop of the Kingdom of God."
From the North
(Repeated tonight at 11.32)

Donald Soper is well known as an outstanding Christian controversialist (open-air speaker at Tower Hill and in Hyde Park, broadcaster, preacher) - and now peer.
What does Lord Soper do when he is not in Hyde Park? In seeking the answer we found ourselves investigating what must be one of the largest and most comprehensive networks of voluntary social service in the country-the West London Mission. Donald Soper has been in charge of it for thirty-two years. This brief film portrait tries to put into perspective the many aspects of his work.
