Jazz File: The Shape of Jazz to Come

The continuing series celebrating Ornette Coleman's 70th birthday. Today Alyn Shipton investigates Coleman's classical compositions and performances, including Gunther Schuller's Abstractions from 1961, Coleman's own wind quintets and his major symphonic work Skies of America recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra. And composer Howard Shore describes working with Coleman on the film score for Naked Lunch.
