A Mad World, My Masters

on BBC Radio 3

by Thomas Middleton, adapted by Peter Barnes
with Roy Marsden as Follywit, James Villiers as Sir Bounteous Progress, Theresa Streatfeild as Francesca and Ian McDiarmid as Penitent Brothel

A rare revival of one of Middleton's greatest Jacobean city comedies: Follywit, kept penniless by his rich grandfather Sir Bounteous Progress, is determined to get his hands on some of his future inheritance while he is still young enough to enjoy it. With the help of wit and disguise things seem to go his way but in the end perhaps, the biter will be bit.
