IT is generally conceded that iron is to mankind the most serviceable of metals, yet it is never found in its perfect form. The application of fire to ores for the purpose of smelting is attributed to various individuals, but at least we know that from very ancient times iron has been in use for a vast variety of purposes. A talk on the process of manufacture of wrought iron will be given by Col. J. S. TRINHAM , M.I.Struct.E., with the incidental noises during the various operations, from a works at Xetherton, near Dudley.
