Andrew Marvell
Marvell was a brilliant satirist, Member of Parliament for Hull, Member of the British Embassy to Russia in 1663, incorruptible in the time of Charles II , a lover of gardens. He was born in Holderness, educated at Hull Grammar School and lived for a time at Nun Appleton Hall, in the West Riding, in the family of Lord Fairfax.
