BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra Conductor Osmo Vanska
The BBCSSO continue their Nielsen cycle with the Fourth Symphony, composed in the shadow of the First World War. Nielsen stages his own battle between two sets of timpani. But his motto, written into the symphony, defies these gloomy images:
"music is life and, like it. inextinguishable." Presented by Paul Guinery.
