The first of three recitals featuring Schubert' song cycles performed by tenor Ian Bostridge and pianist Julius Drake earlierthis month at London's Wigmore Hall. Set to words by Wilhelm Miiller , Die Schone Mullerin tells the story of a travelling millerwho arrives at a new mill looking for work and falls in love with the miller's daughter, who rejects him for another. Broken-hearted, the young miller drowns himself in the brook.
