2 Dance: The Swinger

on BBC Two England

Choreographer Yolande Snaith takes A Lover's Discourse by the French writer Roland Barthes as the starting point for this dance. The piece is set in a tilted world dominated by a giant pendulum, whose swing seems to be driven by the passions, anger and disappointments of four lovers. The lovers are danced by Lynne Bristow, Ted Stoffer, Desiree Kongeroed and Simon Hughes. The words are spoken on stage by Hassani Shapi and Barthes's text is adapted by Craig Raine. Director/Producer Ross MacGibbon
