A Song of Tyneside

on BBC Radio 2

Radio 2 Arts Programme Continuing their occasional series of programmes from around writers' Britain, Sean Street and Christopher Cook visit
Catherine Cookson country in search of the spirit of the place behind one of the most successful novelists of all time. On the way, they explore the world of another distinguished daughter of the area, Elinor M Brent-
Dyer, author of the famous "Chalet School" series of books, who was born just over a century ago in South Shields. They also visit an ancient tower - legendary as the home of poetry readings in Newcastle, and have some surprising literary encounters under the Tyne's famous bridges. Producer Stella Hanson
