On 25 April 1974, Europe's most recent revolution ended 48 years of dictatorship in Portugal. It brought, among other things, a hard-fought legacy of land reform to the stunning sun-drenched region of the Alentejo, in southern Portugal, where the cork oak and the co-operative dominate the landscape.
