Songs of Praise

on BBC One London

for Remembrance from Coventry and Dresden Songs of Praise for
Remembrance links two cities which suffered appalling damage during the Second World War. Coventry in the Midlands was bombed constantly to destroy its morale, while Dresden in East Germany was the victim of one of the most deadly air raids in history.
Roger Royle and Cliff Michelmore hear from the people of both cities about their experiences of war and discover some of the present links which have developed between the two cities since Coventry Cathedral's first message of forgiveness and reconciliation in 1940. They join congregations in the ruins of Coventry Cathedral and the reconstructed
Kreuzkirche in the heart of Dresden in a shared act of remembrance and reconciliation.
