A story of three weeks in Glasgow
The first-ever Clyde Fair International, intended to become an '18-day annual fiesta,' was scheduled to open 10 days ago. The aims of this 'Festival of the People' are to reflect the good things of life in the area, and the pride of its people in their environment and their achievements. The Fair programme includes new plays by Scottish writers; street and children's theatre groups; and many other events. A disused store is being converted into a Kids Centre Glasgow's old Fruit Market is to become a Cabaret and Bazaar.
Do the people of Glasgow welcome this Festival in June 1972? Do they feel that the £200,000 budget adequately caters for all tastes? What are the problems of mounting such an event?
To find out, Omnibus film teams followed the organisers, participants and critics during the hectic three weeks leading up to its opening days.
