Rebecca West 's story of childhood, seen through the eyes of Rose, a girl struggling to comprehend life with a brilliant father who gambles away all his money on the stock exchange, and a highly-strung mother who has sacrificed her career as a pianist to bring up Rose, her sisters Mary and Cordelia, and her much-loved brother Richard. The family is constantly threatened with ruin, but Rose and Mary have dedicated their lives to music.
Unfortunately, so has Cordelia. Dramatised by Robin Brooks.
