Grandstand: Rugby League World Cup Final
From 1.15pm BBC 1
A 20-16 victory over Australia at Wembley three weeks ago fuelled optimism that England could lift rugby league's World Cup. This afternoon it's back to Wembley for the final, though Radio Times went to press before last weekend's semi-finals in which England played Wales and Australia met New Zealand.
England topped Group One with a perfect record while Australia made up for the opening match defeat with a record 86 points against South Africa and then beating Fiji 66-0. England were less impressive as coach Phil Larder rang the changes - scoring identical 46-0 victories over the Fijians and South Africans. New Zealand beat Tonga and Papua New Guinea to win Group Two, while Wales had victories over Western Samoa and France to top Group Three.
