Walking through the sensory garden in the beautiful Arboretum of Ninewells Hospital in Dundee Nicola Singleton begins her exploration of this rather special community garden. Together with food historian Peggy Brunache they hear how the garden is used by staff, patients and the wider community.
Garden facilitator Sarah Griffiths introduces Nicola to bee keeper Jim Doig who allows both Nicola and Peggy to visit his bee hives in the heart of the garden where Peggy collects some honey for lunch. Jim explains how they've created a tapestry lawn as a bee friendly area of the garden.
Nicola explains to a young horticultural student how to propagate using summer cuttings, visits a clinic with a difference where a group of amputees are using the garden as an alternative to the gym and ends by hearing how Peggy has made lunch using Ninewells own honey. Show less
