Members of the public who have performed outstanding acts of courage and kindness are lured to the studios to be surprised with the Heart of Gold award.
Amanda [text removed] , 13, has raised more than £10,000 through her musical talent to help cancer charities despite having leukaemia. Hearts of Gold has secretly recorded Amanda playing with opera star Lesley Garrett. Tonight Amanda discovers that the recording is now a CD, released in aid of her favourite charity. In addition, a message of tribute from the Princess of Wales is read to her. The programme also recognises the extraordinary kindness of British Forces
Chaplain the Rev Leslie Hardman , who was among the first people to liberate Belsen concentration camp during the Second World War. Presented by Esther Rantzen and Mike Smith.
