Forgotten female composers, Women and Grenfell, The lies parents tell

Duration: 41 minutes

First broadcast: on BBC Radio 4 FMLatest broadcast: on BBC Radio 4 LW

Available for over a year

The death toll for the Grenfell Tower disaster now stands at seventy-two. Many of the community members who leapt into action to help with emergency shelters and missing loved ones were women. They continue to lead many of the campaigning groups in the ongoing fight for justice for survivors. Tina Daheley is joined by four members of the Women for Grenfell Network who will be appearing on a panel at the Women of the World festival this weekend. They are Yvette Williams, co-founder of Justice for Grenfell, Lucy Masoud, London Fire Brigade Union, Eileen Short, Chair of Defend Council Housing and Clarrie Mendy-Solomon.

Twenty years ago, the What Women Want survey asked women from across the UK a simple question - what do you want? The survey has just been repeated, and we'll find out from the campaign co-ordinator Stephanie Siddall how much has changed.

BBC Radio 3 is showcasing the work of five female composers whose work has been overlooked and largely forgotten. The artists were chosen by a panel of academics and music scholars. The composer, conductor and academic Dr Shirley Thompson discusses the work of the African-american composer Florence Price.

Psychologists say tell your children the truth in times of crisis. But most parents will admit that the odd white lie creeps in, in ordinary day to day life. Tina talks to Dr Chris Boyle, a psychologist at Exeter University and Grace Timothy, author of Mum Face about the lies that parents tell children. Show less
