Continuing Colin MacDonald’s dramatisation of the Tudor mystery novel by C.J. Sansom.

Lawyer-detective Matthew Shardlake and his assistant Jack Barak journey to Portsmouth with Sir Nicholas Hobbey and his young ward, Hugh Curteys. Preparations for a naval battle with the French are gathering pace, and Hugh – anxious to enlist in spite of Sir Nicholas’s strong objections – demonstrates his archery skills to Captain Leacon. Meanwhile Shardlake has an unexpected and typically unpleasant encounter with his old enemy Sir Richard Rich.
