Alex and Steph are in north Wales to meet the Williams family. Katy, Wayne and eight-year-old daughter Holly are living a life of luxury with a home jam-packed with designer brands.
Appearance is everything to beautician Katy - she won't be seen in the same outfit twice, has over £1,500 worth of make-up and has a wardrobe brimming with branded clothes, including a significant number that still have the tags on. Mechanic Wayne loves his designer clothes and likes to treat himself to luxury brands. Their love of labels has even filtered down to Holly.
However, this celebrity lifestyle comes at a cost, and with credit card bills spiralling out of control, Alex and Steph make it their mission to change the family's money-splurging ways. Alex and Steph raid the family home to get to the bottom of the problem. Armed with evidence of their spending, they set up a pop-up shop filled with the family's belongings. Katy and Wayne are shocked when they are confronted with the reality of their splurges.
Alex and Steph also take away their usual brands and repackage them. Some are cheaper but others are the same, to really put them to the test. The Williams needed a complete overhaul, so Alex and Steph take away a lot of their luxuries, from expensive nights out to essential hairpieces, and even Katy's beloved Land Rover Evoque isn't off limits! But do the shock tactics prove to the Williams that they can spend less and still enjoy the lifestyle they are accustomed to?
Steph visits Boots, the pharmacy, to find out what we should be looking for when it comes to sun protection. And does a bigger price tag mean better protection? A team of synchronised swimmers take to the pool testing out waterproof mascara, and in Birmingham a group of hairdressers put a selection of hairdryers to the test to see if you need to spend more to get the perfect blow-dry.
At the end of the week, have the family embraced the changes and curbed their designer lifestyle? Show less
