The People Remember

Series 3

Episode 1: Fighting Back

Duration: 45 minutes

First broadcast: on BBC One HDLatest broadcast: on BBC One Wales

Sophie Raworth and former Royal Marine JJ Chalmers, who was badly injured in Afghanistan, are at the Imperial War Museum in London paying tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice in conflicts past and present.

In this episode, special guest Murray Walker shares memories of commanding a Sherman tank at the end of the Second World War. Presenter JJ Chalmers recounts how an IED ended his career as a marine but started a new life-changing journey.

There is also the first of five films following injured servicemen and women through the Battle Back Centre - a residential course that helps them with their recovery. JJ delves into some of the treasures held in the museum's archives, and double amputee former soldier Micky Yule talks about his Paralympic success.

Plus there is a performance from Chris de Burgh with his new song The Soldier and a farewell letter from the Battle of Waterloo - read by a relative. Show less
