Episode 30

Duration: 1 hour

First broadcast: on BBC Two ScotlandLatest broadcast: on BBC Two HD

In our final visit to Longmeadow this year, Monty gives advice on the plants that need winter protection and thinks ahead to colourful spring bouquets by planting bulbs in the cutting garden.

The glory of summer may be over in most gardens but Carol goes to Worcestershire in search of some autumn colour, in a garden designed to reach its peak of flowering right now. Frances finds out whether there is a north-south divide in the yield and taste of vegetables grown at RHS Rosemoor in Devon and RHS Harlow Carr in Yorkshire.

Zephaniah Lindo investigates the relationship between roots and microscopic fungi, while Nick Bailey injects new life into a small, neglected garden in London. And Alan Power spends a day in the gardens of Mount Stewart near Belfast to see how they are using historical archive to restore parts of the garden. Show less
