Islay-born Heather Dewar visits some of Scotland's most picturesque and remote coastal communities.
In this episode Heather explores the Ardnamurchan peninsula. Her travels begin in Moidart, the ancient estate of Macdonald of Clanranald. On the old bridge crossing the River Shiel - the boundary between Moidart and Ardnamurchan - she meets accordionist Fergie Macdonald, surely one of the clan's most well-known members today. Fergie's son John is a gamekeeper and talented shooter, and he gives Heather a quick lesson in the safe handling of a rifle.
Her travels take her through the length of the remote peninsula, eventually arriving at the country's most westerly point and the spectacular Ardnamurchan Lighthouse. Show less
