Jawan: The Defence of India

on BBC One London

John Masters, author and soldier, goes back to India to report on the Army in which he once served.
Across the roof of the world, on the mountain ranges of the Himalayas, the armies of India and China face each other. In October 1962 the Chinese overran thousands of square miles of Indian territory. The Indian Army was beaten.
What is the state of India's defences today? What is he like-the Jawan of 1964?
Written and narrated by John Masters, D.S.O., O.B.E.
Introduced by Michael Charlton.
