Jeremy Denk, piano
Jeremy Denk is one of America's foremost pianists - a musician the New York Times hails as someone 'you want to hear no matter what he performs'. He makes his BBC Proms debut in a recital that puts Beethoven's final piano sonata at its core. It's a work that blends extrovert passion with a depth that characterises all of the composer's late works. We mark the centenary of Scriabin's death with his most famous piano sonata, the 'Black Mass' - a disconcerting, phantasmagorical musical journey, followed by Bartók's Piano Sonata, a piece strongly coloured by Hungarian folk melodies and rhythmic attack.
This Prom will be repeated on Sunday 30th August at 1pm. Show less
