An up-tempo Kat brings Alfie a Spanish breakfast in bed; Alfie’s noticeably less excited. Kat admits to Stacey that she and Alfie are leaving that afternoon and Stacey gets upset when Kat suggests that there’s nothing worth sticking around for. Alfie spots Sonia in the café and asks her advice – using a cover story of a friend – about whether it’s safe to fly with a mass on the brain. When Sonia suggests that there’s a chance things could go wrong, Alfie panics. As Kat excitedly goes through Spain plans, Alfie comes clean; he failed his medical.

When Kat looks disappointed, Alfie backs out of telling the complete truth and claims that it’s just down to high cholesterol. Alfie confesses that they’re not going to be given the mortgage for the bar but Kat remains sunny and suggests that they’ll still go; they can just get another business. As Kat and Alfie make their way down Bridge Street, Pam convinces them to pop into the Vic for a drink before they go. The pair head into the pub and find everyone gathered, wearing sombreros, to wish them well. Alfie hands over some cash to Martin as Mick gets the first round of drinks in. Mo apologises to Kat for getting involved with Harry’s money; Kat forgives her. Fat Elvis arrives at the Vic and Mo announces that they are engaged. Kat’s shocked to see Sister Judith arrive at the Vic, who asks to talk to her in private, but Kat’s pulled away for Alfie’s speech.

Alfie hands Stacey the keys to flat 3C – he’s paid rent for a year there for her. Kat and Alfie finish off their goodbyes; Stacey informs Kat that Sister Judith disappeared. Kat and Alfie climb into Alfie’s old Capri – Martin was able to buy it back so that they could drive to Spain. Alfie throws his consultant referral letter out of the window as the pair head off for their new life...

Shirley firmly tells Dean that she’s off to get some answers from Shabnam. Shirley hammers on the Masoods’ door, before, in front of Masood and Tamwar, asking Shabnam where her granddaughter is. Shabnam declares Shirley drunk but Shirley presses – stating that Shabnam told Dean that they had a daughter. As Shabnam continues to deny the claims, Masood orders Shirley out. When Masood assures Shabnam that he knows she wouldn’t be so stupid, he’s met with silence, leaving Masood and Tamwar perplexed. As Kush spots Shabnam on Bridge Street, he heads straight over and admits he’s affronted that he lay his heart on the line for her, but that she couldn’t be honest with him. When Shabnam appears confused, Kush lays it out straight; he knows about her daughter.

Stacey clocks this exchange. Shirley arrives at Blades and informs Dean and Buster that Shabnam denied everything. Dean fills the pair in on how Shabnam changed her story; it’s enough to make him believe that she’s lying, and he’s determined to find his daughter. Stacey finds a frosty Shabnam in the Minute Mart – but Stacey maintains that Kush had a right to know. Shabnam tells Masood and Tamwar that she wants them both home for lunch; she has something to tell them. Shabnam arrives with Asim and shocks Masood, Tamwar and Fatima when she announces that they are getting married. Shabnam desperately tries to convince everyone around the table that Asim is the one – despite getting his name wrong. Masood takes Shabnam aside to the kitchen and questions Shabnam over whether she’s made the right choice, but Shabnam stands firm; it’s what she wants.

Tamwar finds Kush in the café and fills Kush in on Shabnam’s decision. Kush is cold and states that Shabnam can do what she likes, but is given food for thought when Tamwar questions why he isn’t fighting for her. Dean shuts up Blades early, telling Buster and Shirley that he wants to go to the town hall to find a death certificate for his daughter. Buster and Shirley advise Dean to leave it, but he’s adamant. As Masood makes polite conversation with Asim, Kush arrives and tells Shabnam he loves her, before asking her to marry him. After a shocked beat, Shabnam says yes.

In the Vic, Mick asks to speak to Shirley alone, before telling her that he can’t afford to buy her out, and asks if she’ll agree to remain partners. Show less
