Kat pushes her way into the Victorian looking house that she has shown up at and anxiously surveys the surroundings, before announcing that the place still smells the same. When Kat questions why there are nuns in what she thought was a hospital, Sister Judith informs her that it’s been a convent since the 1920s. As Kat bolts out of the door, Sister Judith follows her and questions why Kat has been here before; Kat informs her that she had her baby there on the 1st February 1984. As Sister Judith shows Kat around, Kat pauses in front of a wooden door and tentatively makes her way into the store room, emotion overcoming her with an overwhelming memory.

Back downstairs, Sister Judith introduces Kat to Sister Ruth – a nun who would have been a part of the order when Kat came to give birth. Sister Ruth instantly remembers Kat, stating she arrived at the convent with her mum; Viv. As Sister Ruth leads a nervous Kat into her bedroom, Kat remembers that it was where she was brought to have Zoe. Kat informs Sister Ruth of how she struggles to remember what happened – apart from a few flashbacks. As the pair sit outside, Sister Ruth tells Kat that she’s been at the convent for forty years and Kat’s was her last baby delivery. Kat blurts out that she became pregnant from an uncle; she was 13. Back in the store room, Kat tells Sister Ruth that she tried to take her own life again recently, like she did in this room. Kat remembers how she was meant to give birth at her Aunty Vi’s, but her mum brought her here – at that point she wanted out. When Sister Ruth suggests that there must have been someone watching over her, Kat’s unimpressed – God wasn’t there for her when Harry was abusing her.

Kat opens up and describes how her own mother belittled the situation and that she became promiscuous to prove to her family how much they had let her down. Kat admits that she has dark thoughts – when she found out that Harry has abused other girls, she felt jealous; she liked the attention that he gave her. Kat refers to her affair with Derek and that she’s always questioned why she went there – now she realises that he was another Harry. Sister Ruth points out Kat’s ring finger and questions who he is. Kat tells Sister Ruth about Alfie, he’s the only thing that’s ever helped the constant weight be lifted. Sister Ruth tells Kat all the good that she sees in her and hands her a pendant of St Zoe of Rome – telling her to keep it. Kat climbs into a taxi to go home, but when the driver asks for confirmation of heading to George Street, Kat instructs him to take her somewhere else. Sister Judith brings in to Sister Ruth all the files from 1984, and the two nuns scour the paperwork together. Kat is dropped off at Walford Police Station - she takes a deep breath and heads inside. Kat arrives back at the flat – Stacey apologises for their argument earlier. Alfie arrives back with chips and Kat drops a bombshell on the pair of them – she’s gone to the police and made a statement against Harry...

When Lily presents Stacey a drawing of the two of them, Stacey remarks on the fact that they look lonely. Whitney presses and asks how things went with Martin; Stacey admits that her heart wasn’t in it. Whitney reminds Stacey that Ryan is still out there – and hands over his contact details. Stacey opens up a messaging programme on her laptop and sends ‘Can I talk to you?’ Stacey gets a response and dashes to get her headphones so as to hear the person on the other side better. Stacey chats to the caller on her laptop and tells them that she feels lonelier than when she was on the run. Stacey gets teary when she tells the caller that she misses them. She shows the caller that she still has the key around her neck – and reveals it’s Sean she’s speaking too. Sean tells her that the key is their dad’s. Stacey informs Whitney that Sean instructed her to look after the key; deeming it important. Show less
