Trusadh
Series 7
Episode 1: The Ferryboat/Aiseag
1 hour
BBC ALBA's flagship documentary series launches its new series with Trusadh: The Ferryboat. The programme follows the creative musical journey of a major new commission for the 2014 Commonwealth Games - with a debut performance in the cliff top setting of Sabhal Mòr Ostaig in Skye, followed by further concerts in London, Inverness and Glasgow.
Highly respected musician, writer and composer, Mary Ann Kennedy was inspired by the communities, culture, and connections on her own doorstep, to celebrate what is truly an intriguing international commonality. Ferryboats have long been a fascination for Mary Ann and have been a constant in her life.
The work celebrates their importance in two rural Commonwealth communities - the Highlands and Islands of Scotland and the diaspora of Nova Scotia, Canada, as she hooks up with one of Canada's most respected composers and an internationally recognised leading creative force, Scott MacMillan.
Trusadh: The Ferryboat - a fascinating trans-Atlantic creative musical journey of people and place, that celebrates the place of the ferryboat in the Scottish rural west coast, and also resonates with the shared experience of rural communities in other parts of the Commonwealth. Show less
