Inside Out East

13/01/2014

Duration: 29 minutes

First broadcast: on BBC One HDLatest broadcast: on BBC One East

David Whiteley reveals who owns the East. There are almost six million acres of land in the region but finding out who owns it isn't easy. There's no complete register of land ownership in England, but we've spoken to dozens of organisations and individuals to reveal a complete picture of who owns the land around us. We've found that just twelve individuals and organisations own a 12th of the land in the region.

Even in our town centres, there is no such thing as public land. Alex Dolan sets out to discover what rights we have to 'public' land and meets people involved in conflicts in the countryside and town.

And Mark Jordan meets the families whose homes are being destroyed by the invasive Japanese knotweed. He asks if scientists can stop this foreign invader. Show less
