Episode 6: Tairbh Phamplona/Bull Runners
56 minutes
San Iuchar ann am Pamplona, tha tairbh mhòr, làidir rim faicinn a' teàrrdsadh tro sràidean a' bhaile, is mòran dhaoine gaisgeil mun cuairt orra. Le bandanathan dearga ceangailte riutha, tha na boireannaich is fireannaich a' teicheadh nuair a tha na tairbh a' tighinn faisg orra.
Tha e cumanta de dhaoine a bhith air an goirteachadh - chaidh aon fhear a-steach fo chasan an tairbh, 's chaidh a dhruim a bhriseadh ann an trì aiteachan - ach tha na ruitheadairean dhen bheachd gur 's fhiach an cunnart airson a' ghlòir. Ri taobh nan ruitheadairean, tha ruitheadairean a tha a' cur an aghaidh an spòrsa seo. Tha mòran dhe na ruitheadairean seo nach gabh pàirt san spòrsa seo a-rithist, ach cha dìochuimhnich duine aca mar a chaidh an latha mòr seo.
Every July in Pamplona, enormous fighting bulls charge through the cobbled streets of the town, surrounded by masses upon masses of thrill-seekers. With red bandanas tied to their bodies, the men and women scatter as the terrifying bulls make chase. Injuries are common - one man was trampled under the bulls' feet and broke his back in three places - but the runners think the glory is worth the risk.
Alongside the reckless runners we see the animal rights protesters, the injured men and the history of this extraordinary tradition. Some of these bull runners will never take part in the chase again - but not one of them will forget the experience. Show less
