Flog It!

Series 11

Episode 34: Shropshire

Duration: 40 minutes

First broadcast: on BBC HDLatest broadcast: on BBC Two Wales HD

Flog It! comes from the stately surroundings of Weston Park, a 17th-century manor house on the borders of Shropshire and Staffordshire.

Paul Martin is joined by experts Michael Baggott and Claire Rawle, who select their favourite antiques to be sold at a nearby auction house. Claire finds an incredible collection of World War I and II memorabilia, including a cigarette case that saved a life. Michael sheds light on a little ceramic piece entrenched in social history relating to gender equality.

But the real surprise comes from the auction, where the price of silver that day dictates the fate of one item.

While in Shropshire, Paul travels to the north of the county to Oswestry, the birthplace of World War I poet Wilfred Owen, and traces the early influences and experiences that resulted in Owen becoming the second most studied poet after Shakespeare. Show less
