Jay can’t sleep, worried for Billy. Shirley apologises to Dot and Andrew about Heather’s funeral and admits she wanted Andrew to be guilty because she was jealous. Lola’s in bits following Billy’s arrest and runs away from Ben when he argues people can lose control. Billy, accompanied by Ritchie, is interviewed by DS Crisp. Crisp brings up Billy’s argument with Heather, his money and his hoody. Billy protests his innocence. Billy’s forced to admit Heather knew he bought nursery equipment with Janine’s credit card. Ritchie persuades Phil to claim he gave Billy cash. Eventually Billy’s allowed to leave. Ben puts the frame under his mattress. Phil gives Ben and Jay a pep talk. Shirley arrives with Andrew, she’s decided they should find Heather’s killer themselves. Andrew, Lola and Billy are keen. Eventually, to Ben and Jay’s horror, Phil agrees.
Mandy knows Billy’s innocent, she and Alex saw him unloading boxes the night Heather died. Alex won’t go to the police. Mandy makes a statement, but is anxious when Crisp reveals he might have to talk to Ian.
Derek makes Alfie plant dodgy electrical gear in the Arches; if Billy tells the police anything it’ll look like he’s covering for Phil. Jay sees Alfie leaving the Arches. Phil confronts Alfie, who admits that Derek thinks Phil’s behind the booze scam. Angry, Phil’s insists Alfie owes him. Phil tells Derek who really scammed him and reminds Derek Walford’s his manor. Thunderous, Derek visits Alfie.
Michael’s insulted when Janine tries to give him money to buy the pork scratchings and marshmallows she’s craving. Michael warns Jean her scratch card winnings could make her a target for the murderer and suggests she invest her money. Back home, Janine tells Michael about Billy’s theft; she’s not going to press charges, but will sack him. Show less
