Prògram tiamhaidh, drùidhteach a dh' innseas mar a ghluais cùram dhaoine bho a bhith ann an ospadalan sònraichte dhan choimhearsnachd. Gu mu fhichead no trithead bliadhna air ais, bha ospadalan mòra son daoine le tinneas inntinn, no daoine a bha ciorramach nan inntinn, stèidhichte air iomall bailtean mòra na h-Alba, far an robh mìltean de dhaoine a bha feumach air cùram air an cumail air falbh bho chàch.

Ach thug dòighean smaoineachaidh ùra mu mar a bu chòir dha cùram a bhith air a làimhseachadh, agus achd ùr airson Cùram anns a' Choimhearsnachd a chaidh tron phàrlamaid ann an 1990, atharrachadh mòr air an dòigh 's an robh na seirbheisean air am frithealadh. Chaidh daoine aig nach robh mòran smachd air am beatha roimhe am brosnachadh gus gluasad dhan
choimhearsnachd, agus gu bhith nam pàirt den choimhearsnachd mar duine sam bith.

Sgeulachd a' ghluasaid mhòr seo tro na sgeulachdan pearsanta aig cuid air an tug e buaidh, agus sealladh air mar a tha beachdan air an dòigh as fheàrr airson cùram a thoirt dha daoine air atharrachadh.

Until twenty or thirty years ago, hospitals for people with mental health problems and learning difficulties were situated on the outskirts of towns and cities, where thousands were shut away from society.

However, changing thinking and attitudes about how people should be treated and cared for, and The NHS and Community Care Act of 1990, revolutionised the way in which services were delivered. People who had previously had little control over their lives were encouraged to move into and be part of the community like the rest of us. This programme tells the story of this transition through the personal experiences of people affected and involved and reveals how attitudes and ideas about how best to care for people have changed.
