The Big Performance

Series 2

Episode 9

First broadcast: on CBBC ChannelLatest broadcast: on CBBC Channel

With just weeks to go until Children in Need night, Gareth takes the group on the final leg of the Big Performance tour, and this time they are hitting Tia's hometown of Cardiff in Wales. She is the last of the group to try out for the coveted solo spot, and Gareth has arranged a music style that she should be familiar with - Welsh choral music. This style is very classical and requires the whole group to work hard in order to crack this precise genre.

The problem is that Tia has never sung on her own in front of the group and often finds herself hidden in the background during performances. But today she cannot escape the spotlight, as she will be leading the group on live television news to an audience of 300,000.

With such a tall order, and so close to their Children in Need performance, Gareth is determined to get them over the nerves that hold them back, and he has an unusual strategy. He asks the group to pick a word to describe what they most disliked about themselves at the beginning of the tour, emblazon it across a t-shirt and wear it with pride. The question is - will they be brave enough to show off the very things that have caused them to be so crippled by shyness? If they can come to terms with their pasts, Gareth hopes they can be more confident on stage in the future - and time is running out before their live television debut.

A final rehearsal reveals the girls' vocals are not up to scratch, and so a last-minute visit from classical boy band Blake is Gareth's only chance at inspiring the whole group to raise their game. Will they listen to Blake's advice and be able to deliver a polished performance when it counts? Show less
