The Big Performance

Series 2

Episode 2

First broadcast: on CBBC ChannelLatest broadcast: on CBBC Channel

The Big Performance tour bus heads to the Midlands, and Shakespeare's hometown of Stratford-Upon-Avon. Gareth is hoping their surroundings will help inspire his shy singers to connect with the words of their song, as they take on their first musical theme, one of the most emotive genres of music - power ballads. They will be learning the Leona Lewis number one hit, Run. But getting the group to sing in public at all is a tough challenge, never mind doing it with passion.

In the last episode they sang karaoke duets in front of each other, and their performances proved just how big a job Gareth has on his hands if they are to pull off the final big performance - singing live on BBC One on Children in Need night. Now, the terrified singers face the public for the first time, performing on an open-top bus in the town centre. Gareth wants their performance to attract an audience of passers-by. They are all going to struggle, but perhaps none more so than the soloist, local girl Molly. Molly has been bullied in the past and it has left her confidence at zero. Can she find the strength to perform?

To help Molly, and all the children, find their inner Leona, Gareth has brought onboard EastEnders star Ricky Norwood. Ricky wants the group to act out the song and really connect with the lyrics. Also paying the children a visit are a group who know a thing or two about putting power into a performance - the Leeds Youth Opera.

Will the petrified performers pull in a crowd when they sing in public together for the very first time? Or is this performance challenge too much too soon? Show less
