Justice

Series 1

Episode 2: Like Father Like Son

Duration: 45 minutes

First broadcast: on BBC One HDLatest broadcast: on BBC HD

Coburn takes delivery of a new bike - maybe those BMX kids were on to something - and cuts quite a dash as he roams around Dovefield, pork pie hat wedged on, crombie coat flying in the wind.

Court reporter Louise continues to dig into the judge's background. Old neighbours are happy to gossip, and Chinese whispers starts to spread in the justice centre about Coburn. Joe Gateacre tells off the staff for engaging these ridiculous rumours, as it's not helping anyone. Joe doesn't want anyone bad-mouthing the Judge; their job is hard enough without being undermined by their own team. Even so, some staff seem keener to argue about cream cakes going missing from the staff room... There's a clash between Joe and Louise, who tells Joe that the judge is playing him. Joe dismisses her but privately Joe's troubled by the rumours. He's backed Coburn to the hilt - has he been taken for a ride?

Kaz is getting drawn further and further into Jake's world, and alarm bells start ringing for Sharna. Sharna tries to warn her, but Kaz can't see it.

A teenage drug dealer, Peter, is up in front of the judge; Peter is one of Jake Little's associates, and Joe sees this as a perfect opportunity to demonstrate the tough line they're going to take on drugs. His mother Kelly appeals to Coburn directly, and his left field approach provides surprising results for both Peter and Coburn. A chance comment from old neighbour Mrs Roden provokes a startling confession. Show less
