Phil follows Shirley home, throws everyone else out then washes the rock of crack down the sink. Phil and Shirley talks openly and honestly. Shirley admits he’s the only man she’s ever loved and questions him about Kathy and Sharon. Phil insists Shirley’s the one he wants now, and not just as a mate, he thinks she’s beautiful and loves her. To prove his point Phil seduces Shirley on the pool table. Meanwhile, at the Vic, Ben’s miserable. When talking to Abi, Jay realises Ben blames himself for what’s going on and reassures him it’s not his fault. Ben and Jay return to the house with Heather, Billy and Julie, and discover Phil and Shirley have made up. They rush to the register office, but halfway through her vows Shirley walks out. Phil follows and Shirley explains she wants to be with him but not as Mrs Mitchell, she has to be free to walk away if Phil cheats again. They kiss. Everyone throws confetti then waves Phil and Shirley off on ‘honeymoon’.

Ian and Jane go to the register office, but no-one else’s there. Ian thinks the place is revolting, but it reminds Jane of where they got married. Inspired, Ian asks the registrar if he’ll renew their vows there and then. Jane walks out, furious. Jane explains to Ian she isn’t in love with him anymore. Ian talks about Bobby, and suggests counselling but eventually accepts their marriage is over.

It’s not until Kat receives a text from Shenice, that it sinks in that she’s really gone, Alfie hugs Kat. He lights the candles on Shenice’s birthday cake and asks Kat to blow them out with him, and make a wish.
