Kat’s acting more cheerfully, but snaps when Kim tells her she doesn’t have to put on a show. Fed up of people pitying her, Kat escapes from the pub. At the cafe, Ronnie leaves James with Jane while she goes to the toilet. When she returns, Kat’s holding the baby. Kat mentions she hasn’t seen Ronnie at the Vic and tells her not to be a stranger. Happier, Kat goes back to the pub and suggests she and Alfie watch a film. They’re laughing together, when Michael Moon walks in – he’s come to see his son.

With Shirley still insisting she won’t marry him, Phil wonders whether they should end their relationship. Ian’s uncomfortable when Jane insists he visit Phil. Phil thanks Ian, he could live for years now. He then mocks Ian for wasting his one chance to get rid of him for good. Glenda goes to the hospital but leaves upset after Phil tells her he doesn’t want her, even though Shirley turned down his proposal. Jane calls an emergency meeting of the book club. After some straight talking from Denise and the other girls, Shirley quizzes Phil about his motives for proposing and then agrees to marry him.

It’s the day of the Car Lot re-launch and Max is feeling confident. Darren’s still pleased with himself for not sending out the invitations, but Max isn’t impressed when Darren fills the forecourt with neighbours. Jodie’s agreed to be a (scantily clad) promo girl for the day, Vanessa and Darren aren’t happy about it. Jack phones everyone on the guest list and discovers what Darren’s done. Jodie stands up for Darren. Furious, Max fires Darren and he in turn gets angry with Jodie. Jodie breaks up with him.

Whitney’s 28 days behind on her pitch fees and loses her stall. Show less
