The Beechgrove Garden

2010

Episode 23

Duration: 30 minutes

First broadcast: on BBC One ScotlandLatest broadcast: on BBC Two Scotland

The whole Beechgrove team is out and about for the last in the series of community garden specials.

The programme focuses on a community garden for the new Royal Dick School of Veterinary Studies at Easter Bush, near Roslin, Midlothian. This is a garden for staff, students, clients and all the four-legged friends and patients of the Dick Vet school.

The vision behind this project came from Caroline Freedman. The garden is situated on a vast 2.5-acre site which is nestled beside the brand new teaching school and overlooked by the Pentland Hills.

The garden provides a place for reflection and contemplation. It is hoped the garden will help and support students dealing with the emotional demands of veterinary medicine.

The Beechgrove Community Garden initiative has enabled over 180 community gardens to be created all over Scotland in the last ten years. Show less
