Last Woman Standing

Episode 3: Banahaw - Kali Stick Fighting

Duration: 1 hour

First broadcast: on BBC ThreeLatest broadcast: on BBC Three

Series in which five athletic adventurers from the west compete for glory against tribal champions in some of the remotest corners of the globe, with the ultimate aim of being crowned the last woman standing. They have just a week to master an indigenous sport, training and rituals whilst eating and sleeping as their fellow competitors do.

In the third programme, the athletes take on a Filipino fighting system during what becomes the harshest week of their lives. Our women must live in a remote martial arts training camp, under the strict tutelage of the Kali Master Rommel. The Pekiti Tirsia Kali fighting system can be applied to any weapon from knives to sticks and even bare hands, but it is the metre-long stick that the Brits will be battling with.

According to Kali tradition, in order to fight well the athletes must be trained to endure extreme pain, so they begin the week with an uncompromising series of endurance trials. They must prove that they have the strength and will to fight even after they are exhausted and will be subjected to the most demanding regime imaginable. They will need all the help they can get as they prepare to face Master Rommel's best students, elite female commandos, in the final knockout contest. Show less
