Hazel Irvine, Steve Davis and John Parrott present live coverage from the opening session of the Grand Prix final.

In 2008 John Higgins lifted the trophy and won his first-ever ranking event title on home soil, but the name of either Australia's Neil Robertson or China's Ding Junhui will be added to the trophy in 2009. Seven frames comprise the afternoon session, with a maximum of ten in the evening to decide the winner.
